Will the iPhone XR price drop in India after the lockdown?

No, it won’t.

Apple iPhone XR was launched in 2018 with a price tag of around 60K INR in India. Later year Apple dropped the price of XR by 10K INR (permanent price-cut). So it was priced at 50K INR.

But this year Apple hiked all iPhone prices by 5% so now iPhone XR is priced at 52K INR. Not only Apple almost every smartphone brand increased prices of their smartphones in India.

Many think that the price hike is due to the lockdown but the truth is the Indian Government increased the GST by 6% from 12% to 18%. Brands had no other option but to increase the prices following the pandemic which even caused delays in the production.

Even after the lockdown the prices of the smartphones (in this case iPhone XR) will not drop unless the Indian Government reduces GST on smartphones. Btw now we are in Unlock, right?

But the good news is that Apple is going to launch their next-generation smartphones in September or October, then previous generation iPhones will get a price cut (in this case iPhone XR).
